Montezuma County Hazard Mitigation Plan

by Heather Alvarez | March 25, 2021 1:06 pm

For the past year, a countywide effort led by Jim Spratlin of the Montezuma County Emergency Management Office has focused on hazard mitigation planning. The county, Cortez, Mancos, and Dolores were all participants in this project. The plan addresses threats of natural disasters such as flood, fire, and winter storms and provides actions that the partners can take to mitigate, or lessen, the impact of these hazards.

FEMA has approved the County Hazard Mitigation Plan pending adoption by each of the local communities by resolution. Once those are completed, copies will be returned to FEMA and a final Plan Approval Date will be set.
