Press Release for August 12, 2019
On 7/30/19 at 1530 hours I responded to a minor traffic accident in the Family Dollar parking lot at 560 W. Menefee in the town of Mancos, Montezuma Co., Colorado. On arrival, I found the two vehicles and both drivers parked in front of the store. Driver 1 said she was backing out of her parking space and backed into another vehicle parked behind her. Driver 1 was in a white 2005 Ford van. There was a small dent in the passenger side rear fender where she indicated it impacted the other vehicle.
Driver 2 said she was inside the store at the time of the accident. Her vehicle was a blue 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage. The Mitsubishi was a rental. There was moderate damage to the front driver’s side quarter panel. It was dented and pulled out away from the car.
Driver 1 was issued a citation for unsafe backing.
Mancos 1 responded to a two-vehicle crash at Mile Marker 65 on Highway 160, in La Plata County at the request of Colorado State Patrol. Mancos 1 arrived and found the suspect was no longer near the vehicle. La Plata County Sheriff’s Office arrived shortly after and began searching for the male with a K9. The male was later located and taken into custody by Colorado State Patrol.
On 08/09/2019 at 1842 hours, Mancos 2 responded to the 400 block of W. Railroad Ave. for a report of a cold vehicle break-in.
Mancos 2 arrived on scene and spoke with the victim who stated someone had stolen the keys out of her vehicle.
