The Mancos Marshal’s Office has received a report of a fraudulent Empire Electric truck coming around requesting payment or your power will be shut off. They will also attempt to solicit payment via phone, and the caller ID will come up as Empire Electric. Please contact Empire Electric directly if you are contacted via telephone.
Empire Electric is aware of the recent incidents reported. Empire Electric will never ask you to get a pre-paid debit card to pay your bill.
If you are contacted by a possible fraudulent Empire Electric truck, please contact the Mancos Marshal’s office through Cortez Dispatch at 970-565-8441.
If you can safely do so, please get license plate information or any other descriptors of driver and vehicle. Possible number on side of vehicle is 1-530-F.
