Below are examples of projects that may or may not require a Building Permit. When in doubt, contact Town Hall at (970) 533-7725.

Installing a new patio or deck with railings or steps Application for Minor Construction Project Yes
Installation of new windows or doors that enlarge or change the original frame None Yes
Any new construction, additions, or major exterior renovations to an existing building or structure Zoning Development Permit Yes
Kitchen or bathroom remodel None Yes, if plumbing, HVAC or electrical is changed in any way
Installing a new fence or retaining wall under 6 feet Application for Minor Construction Project No
Any project that alters the footprint of the building or structure Zoning Development Permit Yes
Any change to existing plumbing, HVAC, gas lines, or electrical work None Yes
Reroofing with similar materials None No
Installation of a slab patio with no steps or installation of a concrete, stone or brick pathway in the interior of the property Application for Minor Construction Project No
Installation of or repairs to sidewalk in the public right of way Public Improvements Permit Yes
Installation of a window or porch awning of any material that hangs over 54 inches from the exterior wall Application for Minor Construction Project Yes
