Burn Ban In Effect

The Town of Mancos would like to remind citizens that the burn ban is in effect on open fires, fireworks, etc. Below is additional information from the Mancos Municipal Code.  Please contact Town Hall at (970) 533-7725 if you have any questions.

Sec. 7-9-50. Open fires and fireworks.

(a)    Open fires and the use of fireworks, firecrackers, torpedoes, Roman candles, skyrockets and other pyrotechnic displays are prohibited in the Town except as hereinafter provided.

(b)   An open fire is any fire in an outdoor location where the fuel being burned is not charcoal or propane contained in a barbeque grill.

(c)    A ban on open fires and the use of fireworks, firecrackers, torpedoes, Roman candles, skyrockets and other pyrotechnic displays in the Town shall continue in full force and effect at all times, but the Board of Trustees, based upon competent evidence, may by resolution suspend said ban from time to time, and additionally, either the Town Marshal or the Town Administrator may, by official statement, suspend said ban from time to time, said official statement to be effectively only until approved or disapproved by resolution of the Board of Trustees at its next regular or special meeting. Said suspension of ban shall be to the degree and manner consistent with the discretionary interpretation of existing fire danger of the person or Board of Trustees issuing the suspension of the ban. This Section shall continue in full force and effect until specific repeal hereof.
