ADMINISTRATOR’S MONTHLY UPDATE
for the TOWN BOARD OF TRUSTEES and the MANCOS COMMUNITY

March 2015

This Monthly Update is a supplemental report for inclusion in the Town Board of Trustees agenda packet, distributing to the community, and for posting on the Town website. It is for informational purposes. Items herein may or may not warrant Board of Trustees discussion, and do not require action unless noted on the meeting agenda.

TOWN SEEKING NEW DEPUTY MARSHAL TO FILL VACANCY

The Mancos Marshal’s Office is seeking to fill the position of Deputy Marshal. Desired minimum qualifications include Colorado P.O.S.T. certification, prior law enforcement experience required, HS diploma or GED (college degree preferred), public relations skills, and the ability to perform required physical tasks. Experience with investigations is highly preferred. Interested applicants should contact Town of Mancos Human Resources. Applications are due by March 26, 2015 at 3:00 p.m.

TRAILS COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The Town is seeking volunteers to serve on the Trails Implementation Group. The purpose of the Trails Group is to implement the recommendations from the 2012 Trails Master Plan, to coordinate and perform trail maintenance and other projects, and to promote trails in Mancos and in the Mancos Valley. Please contact Town Hall for more information. A Chair or Co-Chairs are needed as well.

NEW MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE APPOINTED

At its last regular meeting, the Town Board of Trustees appointed James Shaner as Municipal Court Judge and Michael Goldman as Deputy Municipal Court Judge. The Mancos Municipal Court hears cases related to minor traffic violations and violations of other sections of the Mancos Municipal Code such as nuisance cases. The court convenes monthly on the second Monday of the month at 5:00 pm, and is open to the general public.

MANCOS VALLEY SUMMIT TO BE HELD ON APRIL 18

The Town of Mancos is partnering with the Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce and Mancos Valley Resources to hold a community and economic development summit on Saturday, April 18. The purpose of the half day event is to gather ideas from business owners, community leaders, and the public on a variety of topics. The summit will be held at the Mancos Community Center at 130 Grand Avenue from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Everyone is invited to participate. Non-profit organizations wishing to set up an information booth should contact Chelsea Jones at cjones@mancoscolorado.com.
